Backup and Recovery Health Check

Over time Backup and Recovery requirements change - virtualisation, new applications, shorter backup windows, data growth, new Business Requirements, compliance, SLAs, etc.  and in hard pressed IT departments there is seldom time or resource to maintain and increasingly complex backup environment.

 To address this problem, it is proposed to offer a Backup and  Recovery health check that will

• Gather the Business Requirement
• Understand the concerns around Backup and Recovery
• Review the backup and recovery hardware infrastructure
• Check the configuration of the backup and recovery software (Symantec NetBackup or HP Data Protector)
• Document the existing backup policies and schedules
• Review the backup and recovery performance
• Check the fit with Business Requirements
• Compare against Best Practices
• Where necessary, make recommendations to address shortcomings, include likelt costs and timescales

 The Backup and Recovery Health Check will require at least one day on-site with full access to the Backup and Recovery management console, and access to senior customer staff with knowledge of both the Business Requirement and the current concerns.

 The written report will be presented back to the customer generally within one week. For customer with < 50 servers, the cost of the Health Check will be (1 day rate), whilst large environments will be costed pro rata.
